Not only am I going to make a maxi dress, but I’m going to make a series of blouses for work using these measurements. Are there any other resources that you can point me to for simple measurements/markings to make simple and clean garments? THANK YOU!

  12. Mimi do u have this dress in a pattern?

  13. You are great but no subscription here. You would get more followers if you showed the end result of your beautiful maxi dress.

  14. Why wouldn’t you show us the dress you have made i have seen most of your videos that u sew but end up in disappointment

  15. I think this is the link to the finished project. https://mimigstyle.com/diy-maxi-dress-tutorial/

  16. where do you get a fabric marker like you have please?

  17. I to wondered what the final dress looked like, but with a little searching I found it. Could this be made in more of an empire style? Love your instructional style. You don’t leave anything out and are so clear.

  26. Mimi, that dress is so cute! Looks so simple to make. Would have loved to see it on you when you were finished! Thanks for the very well explained video and for showing us step by step!

  27. I seem to have missed when you cut the V-neck part from the rectangles.

  28. Hi I just watched this tutorial. And the only time I saw the finished dress was in a tiny thumbnail before I clicked the video. I didn’t see it in the beginning or at the end… it would nice to actually see the dress in a bigger picture or In the video itself. 😒😒

  29. Loved the tutorial but couldn’t find the pics for the dress

  30. Wow u got a nice sewing machine there is it easy to use

  31. Good morning, can you do a video on how to sew a maxi dress and or skirt with pockets. Please… I love pockets and I am just starting out with sewing. Truthfully I am terrified. Thank you .. Tigga

  32. Thank u you make it esy

  33. Would this work if I wanted to do a gathered skirt bottom

  34. y el vestido donde esta?

  36. Interested with you video it’s very clear teaching I really like to watch more about pensil dress ,,this I really make right now and look really good I’m so happy thank a lot for working hard to give other learning

  37. Hi. Great tutorial. Was wondering why the skirts were not cut on fold ?

  38. WHAT KIND OF DRESS IS IT?IS IT SHORT SLEEVED?IS IT A JUMPER?IS IT A SHIFT?HOW WOULD I KNOW IF IT LOOKS RIGHT?

  39. Hi! I love this tutorial by the way! Wondering if there would be any different steps to the shoulder gather if I add sleeves. Is it safe to add them after the gather is made?

  40. Show the dress. Not hanging over your shoulder

  41. I enjoyed your tutorial but you didn’t hold up the dress so that it can be seen. I was waiting for that..I hit the link but the dress wasn’t there.

  42. this is my favorite dress to make and best sew along video ever. it was free and most important a modest and classy look for my style.

  43. يا ريت لو ترجمه لان كلش حلو فصالها

  44. يا ريت لو يترجم

  45. wished you would have put it on so we could see it!

  46. Hi Mimi G, I love this dress and I am making in it all kind of which ways lol. Could you please Please teach me how to make a killer cotton mermaid skirt which just hugs the curves all the right ways? I hope you can because Jersey does not like me. If you have a pattern I can buy then even better. Blessings.

  47. Please what kind your sewing mashine

  48. Where is the dress????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? LOL

  49. قناه جميلة جدا واستفدت منها كثير 👍👏👏👏

  50. can i use a chiffon fabric?

  51. Love your designs. I have one of you Summer patten that’s a dress but I want it to be a short pant jumpsuit. Help

  52. amazing!
    You are a gr8 teacher!
    gonna try this!

  53. Hey, guys. I used to think the same on why she never wears the finished product, too. until I realized the thumbnail is what made me click on the tutorial. 😂😂

  54. What’s the pattern? what does it look like? I’m disappointed I have no idea what the final dress looks like!

  55. Why are people asking for the finished product when she is wearing at the beginning of the video? Come on people!

    1. Give a time stamp maybe? I don’t see her wearing any dress

  56. That’s what I was thinking …. But when you take the hip measurement then add was it 4inches?? The extra that you add on would include seam allowance for sewing all 4 pieces of the skirt together… So if you only have two then you only have two seams…. So wouldn’t the add on inches be reduced??

  57. I want to use a patterned fabric….. What would the measurements be if I wanted to make my skirt with only two pieces, a front and a back?

    1. I would think instead of dividing by four, divide by two, since you will only have two pieces.

  58. Hi Mimi, would you please make and demo a maxi without waist – like a kaftan. That would be lovely. Thanks.

  59. hi mimi this was explained perfectly! thank u. what type of machine are u using? is your sewing machine also a surger?

  60. how would I believe that this dress is really it is?

  61. Please upload full video of the finished dress not incomplete…

  62. bende cok beyenerek takip ediyorum mimiyi ama banim cok buyuk bir sorunum var konuşmalarini annamiyirum keşke bu videolari yukleyen yutobe turkce olarakta yayinlasa cooooook mutlu olurum saygilarimla

  63. love your tutorials but wished we cud see the dress on you when finished so we can see the final product

  64. I do love this. Thanks for the detailed explanations and reasons for every decision.
I will get it done in a royal blue chiffon.
    🙂

  65. Are you measuring shoulder to belly button vertical, straight down length or diagonal? Looks like you are using your hands to indicate diagonal. Shoulder to Belly Button. Thanks!

    1. did you ever find the answer to this question?

  66. but I did nt see how the dress looked like she only finished sewing it but did nt show what it. looked like

    1. There are 2 links, one for a wrap dress and the one she made here! 🙂

    2. it’s a V neck , not crossed over the bust and the shoulders are slightly gathered!

    3. Thank you plantasia5179!! I appreciate that 😀

    4. here, that’s the right dress http://mimigstyle.com/diy-maxi-dress-tutorial/

    5. this doesn’t look like it. The dress in the link has cap sleeves and is crossed over in the bust area.

  67. can u say how to remove a net on the top of a shirt

    1. bhavana Reddy

  68. Thank you for these instruction, I really appreciate them

  69. She couldn’t have shown a finished product.  Because if you guys were paying attention, she said 19.5 inches length for the bodice and 47 inches length for the skirt.  All totaled for the two piece together would be 66.5 inches  for the  dress.  The average maxi dress  is 50 inches from shoulder to hemline or with up to 4 inches more added for taller females or to accommodate heels. Definitely no more than that! The female would have to be an Amazon Woman to have a dress 66.5 inches .  The first lesson of sewing ‘MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE’

  70. This was the most well explained and easy to follow sewing tutorial I have watched thank you ❤️

  71. Mam,What’s the difference between A-line dress & Maxi dress ?

    1. Priyanka Jain I’m taking it as an A-lined dress may have a tail or train-like feature. while a maxi just falls straight down.

  72. Can you make a box pleated skirt with pocket

  73. So helpful!

  74. Superb!!! I need 50 of these!

  75. Love this dress but a little bit complicated for as a beginner. Can you do something for the beginners please and how to do the measures. Thanks 😊👍
Thanks for sharing us your beautiful talent the God give you.

    1. It’s actually not complicated at all. I was able to follow along pretty easily and I did this after only about a month of learning to sew. Take your time and rewatch the parts the seem a bit confusing; I promise you’ll find it way easier than you expected. Also, she does give instructions on how to do your measurements at the beginning, somewhere between the 1-3 minute portion of the video. You’ll need to pause the video and write the instructions down. Good luck and I hope you do try it!

  76. Do a makeover on a free dress

  77. What machine is that.. i would love to get one..wow..

  78. I wish I could see the finished dress….thank you for your super easy tutorial..

  79. can I use chiffon fabric and how will I line it.

  80. Only thing is that I was hoping she would have put on the dress in the end…

  81. best thing is that you discussed the fabric…thanks a lot for this tutorial.same request as many others, please let us see the finished product.

  82. I disliked the video because you dont show how the full dress looks worn or even held up.

  83. You must be super tall. My length is only 36 +2. Lol.

  84. I got my Michael Levine fAbric today thanks to you Never knew about them. Excited to start this dress. Thank you for the best videos on this site. You’re so thorough especially for an old beginning like me..Michele…

    1. Thanks!

    2. Sandra Nutt shoulder to belly button vertically (straight down)

    3. Since I am guessing that you already made the dress – do you know if she is measuring shoulder to belly button vertically across the chest or straight down length? Looks like she is using her hands to indicate diagonal. Shoulder to Belly Button. Thanks! Already posted above so I better not post again – and will look for answer from someone else who may have asked.

    4. +Cynthia Smith you carry on while being a brave little girl from behind your laptop or phone screen while i get on with my life, instead of being told how to live it

    5. +Cynthia Smith your shit scared, otherwise you wouldnt be hating behind a screen, i bet you would never have the guts to say it to my face

  109. Guys guys guys guys look——> http://mimigstyle.com/diy-maxi-dress-tutorial/ <------pics of the dress.

    1. Love that you acknowledge God. God bless you. John 14:6

  117. thankyou somuch

  118. Like so many, I would have loved more of a complete presentation. I tried to find some good pics of the dress completed but could not. I’d like to see that before I decide if I want to make it.

    1. @***** By the way, I just found the pic of the dress. But I had to go on a hunt for it. ML… it would really help if it was all in the same video.

  119. why such a long video :'(. but came out perfect. thanks

  120. What did you make? You didn’t show what you made …

  121. all that watching your tutorial and we don’t get to see the dress on?! I wanted to see the flow of the dress! (sigh)

  122. wow, you make it seem so easy =(
I love the dress though ;D

  123. Would  have love to see the dress on once you completed it so that I have some idea how it looks once completed.

    1. belly button to floor,? maybe she didn’t put her heels on

    2. deechabee What’s wrong in it… 19.5 – 1 inches or 1.5 sewing allowance now its 18 r 17.5 n 2 r 2.5 inches from the 47 of skirt, left length is 45 r 44.5 so the total length will be 62 r 63… mine is the same wid 4 inchs heels n may be U noticed her maxy isn’t just floor length its laying on floor.

    3. @deechabee I was wondering same. Why would Belly button to heel be 47??
Anyways, it’s an excellent tutorial. Everyone is expected to use their individual measurements and not the one in the video.

    4. The female would have to be an Amazon Woman to have a dress 66.5 inches in length.  The first lesson of sewing ‘MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE’.

  124. Great tutorial, and fantastic looking dress! Thanks for posting the link to the pictures of the finished product. It is even nicer than I could have imagined 😀

  125. i mimi can i know what kind type u use for ur machine for sew?janome or singer or what kind brand n type…thxs GBU

  126. Want to try this but never sewed before and what if large chested and stomach not flat. How does that change the measurements?

  127. I like matching , how much you buy this matching

  128. Ive seen your patterns in Joann fab lately… Id like to get one, preferably one that you have tut on, like a sew  along. Can you tell me if  and which patterns you have tutorials?

  129. Thanks for trying your beautiful dress on. Your design’s should be in high end fashion stores. You’re very gifted.

  130. Wouldn’t it make sense to show what the dress looks like at the BEGINNING of the video and again while wearing it at the end so viewers can decide if it’s something they want to make?

    1. @Stormy Gomez thank you..its a very beautiful dress

    2. Right thats what i thought. til she got to the end. so we dont get to see what it look like

    3. that’s why the finished dress isn’t in the video…

    4. yep the second one I have seen like this, frustrating.

    5. I love that Dress!!

  131. Why didn’t you try the dress on for all to see?

  132. Hi I’m deciding on getting a sewing machine witch one do you think is better the
SINGER 4411 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine with Metal Frame and Stainless Steel Bedpl
     or the
    Brother XL2600 Sewing Machine
    or the ( last one)
Brother 37-Stitch Special Edition Butterfly Blossom Sewing Machine, Model BB370     I really need your help really bad

  133. Nice tutorial, that sewing machine looks like it should be on a
spaceship LOL. The last time i used a sewing machine it
was done by hand not a computer screen in sight.

  134. thanks a lot

  135. Is the dress semi-sheer using this material?  If so, what type of liner could be added?

  136. what sewing machine are you using? and can you also suggest one or two other good alternatives. thanks

  137. I love at tajaray

  138. You r an amazing teacher and i am going to try to make a maxi dress. Thanks so much for your tutorial.

  139. I so love your video and love that super sewing machine you have. I love to see you work again. your great at what you do Thanks for putting your time to teach others your talent many Blessings for you….

  140. Hausa mu

  141. Oh wow!! Who are you and where did you come from lol that was an amazing tutorial. So where do I sign up for classes lol. Very good explanation very descriptive luv it!! 👍👍👌

  144. What sewing machine do you have?

  145. you didnt show us what it looked like when it was done.!!!!!

  146. diktiğin şeyi  neden üstüne giymedin ki ortaya  nasıl bir  sonuç çıktığını  göremedik

  147. What points do you measure for the neckline? You said your measurement was 8 inches. Was it from the top of the shoulder to the point where you want your neckline to stop?

  148. Well one thing I didn’t like was that we do not get to see the finished product. 🙁

  149. esta muy interesante pero me gustaria q lo traduzcas o subtitulado gracias por tus aportes………………………….

  150. Where you get that sewing machine

  151. you really need to put a link to the finished product in your videos. I couldn´t find any photos on the lowpricefabric page.. I had to come back here and search the comments.

  152. Great tutorial! If I want to make this more of an empire waist so it is more of a maternity style dress do you think I would have to change much? It seems like I could maybe just shorten the rectangles used for the bodice and lengthen the skirt to make up the difference. And maybe make it in a knit for some stretch? Your input would be greatly appreciated!

  153. Do you think you can you do a DIY video for the Skirt Becky G had wore in the VMAs?

    (:

  154. nice but missing final look of the dress.

  155. so much love for this tutorial. This is the only one that I could find with such explicit institutions. Dhanyawaad!!(Thank you in Hindi!!)

  156. Thank you so much

  157. Hi Madam , I have a question for you please, I want to sew over embellished fabric and I was afraid to break my needle or damage my machine as I have a beginner sewing machine, thank you very much.

  158. Thanks girl for ur help, fantastic job but what sewing machine are you using?

  159. Ok nevermind, just saw the link! Thanks!

  160. Great instruction! But, I would have loved to see the dress instead of on your shoulder. Ahhh!

  161. not for beginners

  162. I just want to say you are such a brilliant seamstress! I absolutely adore your teaching.  You make it very simple and straightforward.  I watched a video on how to pattern and make a skater dress and the girl made the top part a little complicated.  I wish i would have watched this video first.  The part of cutting the slits for the armhole and chest dip (for lack of better words LOL) are genius!! I am part of two amazing sewing groups on Facebook and am going to share your tutorial to them.  Thank you again for a spot on, professional tutorial.

  163. Love the outcome, thank you for sharing. Also, I love your look, you are so beautiful all natural. I wish you prosperity and succsess always!

  164. Does yhe measurements do fo all types of patterns ?

  165. mimi wear do you purchase your fabric? do u have a great online fabric store you can send my way. thx joey

  166. i want that sewing machine 😛

  167. i AM GOING TO DO THIS!!

  168. where can i get a sewing machine like this one?

    1. Thanks…I am from Trinidad

    2. Depends on where you are located. The brand is a Husqvarna Viking. The model is a Sapphire. Google search “Viking Sewing Gallery” to find one near you.

  169. In your video you should put the dress on the manequin to show the result.

    1. Exacto ! No muesra como se ve !,

    2. @Olga Ling thanx, (y) 🙂  ..but it would be better in the video. I also went on the website, searched myself silly, befor coming back here to search the comments

  170. Is your table specialy made?
    Thanks

  171. Where can we see after photos?

  172. How much was your sewing machine??

    1. That machine runs about $1,600

  173. great video 🙂

  174. So I guess you don’t have to do anything special for the neckline other than folding over and sewing the edges…. unless I missed something

  175. you really are a natural teacher! especially for people like me whose patience (&attention span?) is very low. thank you.

  176. it is very helfull thank u so much

    1. @mervat ahmed fecfcfcr8fjg=&##&#rhdwujfulqulrueljfupdeffuvpfifoidaqda

  179. I loved it! you are a gud instructor!!

  180. thAnk you for the wonderful toturial.. 🙂 this was very helpful..  just missing the final look of this finished product.. 🙂

  181. That pattern is EXACTLY what I have been looking for!! I have the same kind of fabric and I wanted it to be a maxi dress. Although I only have 2 yards, so I guess I’ll only make 2 sides without panels.
    This was very helpful! Thanks!!

  182. Perfect tutorial, but missing a final look with the finished product!  How does it look? 🙂  Good instructions though.

    1. @Yelhsa Elocin Ertip http://mimigstyle.com/diy-maxi-dress-tutorial/
      This link works …….

  183. I need your help jajajaj. ive cut out my size but I always get it wrong on tops. it is always to small on my breast area
